Stu Harrison of Merriam Pianos sits down to play C. Bechstein’s famous M/P192 Grand Piano. He’s selected Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel”, a modern piano classic in Db Major. The video is ‘playing-only’, so please be sure to check out our other review video where we take a thorough look at the instrument’s details and features.
The C. Bechstein M/P 192 is a 6’3” hand-made grand piano built in Germany, taking over 500 hours and 15 months to complete each instrument. The piano frequently gets compared to Steinway Hamburg A’s, and the Fazioli F183 as one of the very finest 6’ pianos in the world. Its unique blend of tonal colour, control, and pure treble make the instrument extremely versatile, excellent to record on, with plenty of projection for live performance.
The Concert-level Grands from C. Bechstein are notable in their design for several reasons: the use of a treble bell, their much-discussed integrated rim / frame design which essentially wraps the entire instrument with rim material, and their use of Val Di’ Fiemme spruce for their soundboard.
We hope you enjoy the video, and for a full in-depth look at the instrument, be sure to check out the full review of the M/P 192 on our channel
