On November 22, 2020, Sunday, as the whole Christendom celebrates the kingship of Christ, the King of kings, the Diocese of Tagbilaran presents a virtual concert, “HUNI SA NANGAGI” at 8 in the evening. It is a musicale made to embellish the opening salvo rallying the faithful to participate in a joyful march towards important milestones of the Catholic Church.
What are these milestones come 2021? The 500th anniversary of Christianity in the Philippines and the 80th anniversary of the Diocese of Tagbilaran. And the same year leads to the 25th anniversary of the First Diocesan Synod of 1997.
“Music is a universal language.” (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow) How else can Boholanos better share with the world their deepest inner feelings if not through music? Professional and amateur musicians actively serving the church have found this day a double opportunity to present their talents, for November 22 is also the feast of St. Cecilia, the patroness of music.
Led by Madame Enriqueta Butalid, this program filled with vocal and instrumental numbers by both lay and clerics alike, will allow the performers to show how a grateful people acknowledge the gift of Christian faith, how they trust the Lord as Shepherds of His flock, and how joyfully they live today’s Life amidst tribulations.
With the encouragement of the Bishop of Tagbilaran, the program includes invocation by the Holy Name University Chorale, Vocal Numbers by Floryn Rose Vergara and Singing Priests of Tagbilaran : Rev. Frs. Irvin Garsuta, Linuel Canizares, Leonel Grado, Elias Algabre, Jonas Lubiano, Melvin Naquila and Tom Balatayo; Rondalla by Dimiao Youth; Violin Duet by Romea Sisters, Piano by Atty. Rosalima Cuyno-Abapo, Beatriz Balatero, Elizabeth Cal, Mrs. Crispiniana Uy-Jumamoy and Mrs. Enriqueta Borja-Butalid.
