The Down for the Count Concert Concert Orchestra perform I’ve Got You Under My Skin (Cole Porter)
Originally arranged by Nelson Riddle for Frank Sinatra’s 1956 album Songs for Swingin’ Lovers, this version of the song has been transcribed and adapted for The Down for the Count Concert Orchestra by our principal conductor Mike Paul-Smith and features a trombone solo by George Simmonds.
The Down for the Count Concert Orchestra is a 20- to 26-piece orchestra which performs the music of Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Nat ‘King’ Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and many more with a luscious Capitol Studios sound.
Conducted by our musical director Mike Paul-Smith and featuring some of the UK’s top vocalists and instrumentalists from leading conservatoires, the Orchestra brings the sounds of Capitol Studios back to life.
The orchestra performs faithful transcriptions of some of the greatest well-known hits of the Swing Era, and also breathes new life into jazz standards with original arrangements and orchestrations written by Mike Paul-Smith and Simon Joyner.
The orchestra is a result of a collaboration between the regular Down for the Count 11-piece line-up and The City String Ensemble. The resulting 20- to 26-piece line-up has a beautiful sound which evokes memories of the golden age of swing music.
