“Hello, I’m Janvier Wete, a Filmmaker and the Founder of an awesome short film app called Minute Shorts. It allows you to watch a great selection of shorts according to your time. So let’s say you only have a minute, well that’s it! I’m originally from Congo, lived in Paris for a while but moved to London early on. I live in Dalston now and from my perspective, Dalston is what Camden used to be. It’s diverse in terms of style and by style I don’t just mean clothes. Different people, different views, interests. It feels like everyone is somehow living in unison despite coming from such different backgrounds. I’m really into music, Kid Cudi’s ‘Man on the Moon’ is my favourite album of all time and yes, Pursuit of Happiness my favourite song of all time. The reason I love this guy’s music is because it’s personal and he’s not afraid to show emotion, sensitivity, which is rare in hip-hop. Apart from that, Nina Simone, clearly my big music inspiration, she was fearless. I’m into vintage, love Beyond Retro and now I only wear low-key brands like Aime Leon Dire, Ade Error and Paloma Wool. My passion for films runs deep. I grew up watching films, especially youtube videos and clips more than TV, so I have to say my favourite film will be a Short from my top filmmaker Khali Joseph ‘Until Quiet Comes.’ It truly inspired me so much that I got into short films. Here in London, I go to Everyman on the Green, is the best place to watch a film apart from Minute Shorts App, of course! I recently went to see Nai Palm of Haitus Kaiyote Gig at the Electric Ballroom in Camden, went with my girlfriend, I love the venue so much because it was the first place, I ever been to watch a concert back in 2008. I float around different places when it comes to clubbing, most of these places have memories for me as I believe they have shaped my experience in this city. So ‘Dalston Jazz bar, The Haggerston Pub, Bussey Building, Canavans Bar in Peckham and Visions Bar’ which closed down. I think I’ve said it all, now back to Minute Shorts, we want to get the point where when you think Shorts, you think Minute.”
