Lullaby
for string quartet
Composer: Pang Kwan (November 2020)
ca. 7’30”

This piece was recorded by the Cong Quartet at the Lee Hysan Concert Hall of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 19 January 2021, for the Ensemble-in-Residence Program (2020–2021) of the Department of Music of CUHK.

PROGRAMME NOTE

This piece is written as an impression to lullaby (music traditionally used to lull a child to sleep). In this piece, a compound metre and a relatively soft dynamic level are used to portray the feeling of lullaby. The middle session is slightly more vivid than the opening, and the music arrives at quiescence near the very end.
