Dave did introduce it as a Wet Wet Wet cover at this concert, which left me confused. Wet Wet Wet released it in 1994, and apparently it was also featured on the hit movie, Four Weddings & A Funeral. So it didn’t make any sense that The Victims were playing it in 1977. It is actually a Troggs song that was originally released in 1967.

On August 9, 2014 legendary Perth punk band The Victims were temporarily reincarnated in the guise of The Television Addicts, playing a one-off gig at The Rosemount Hotel in North Perth. Founding Victims members James Baker and Dave (“Flick”) Faulkner were joined on stage by lifelong Victims fan Ray Ahn of The Hard-Ons and the trio proceeded to belt out a set of classic Victims tunes, most of which had not been heard since the band broke up in mid-1978. This February Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will also get a chance to see The Television Addicts for one night only. This is the closest thing you’ll get to a full-blown Victims reunion.

In 1977, The Victims released their debut single, “Television Addict”/”I’m Flipped Out Over You”, of which only 1,000 copies were pressed. “I’m Flipped Out Over You” came from James Baker former band, The Geeks. The following year they released their ‘No Thanks To The Human Turd’ EP, which included five songs: “I Understand”, “Open Your Eyes”, “TV Freak”, “High School Girls” and “Disco Junkies”. Both the single and the EP became well sought after items for record collectors.

In 1989, a compilation album, ‘All Loud On The Western Front’ was released, which incorporated the single and EP plus one unreleased song titled, “Perth Is A Culture Shock”. In 2012, a more comprehensive compilation came out from the Japanese label 1977 Records called ‘Sleeping Dogs Lie’. It included all of the songs on ‘All Loud On The Western Front’ plus a demo tape recorded in a living room around August 1977. These demos included the following songs: Disco Junkies, Horror Smash, Monster, I Wanna Be With You, Uranium Song, Charlie, Telethon Song, (I’m Just A) Victim, Out Of My Head and Girls Don’t Go For Punks.

Where is the original bass player, Rudolph V (Dave Cardwell)?
According to Dave, he “cant do any more shows….have had two heart attacks last year, so I have to rest”. Which is the reason why lifelong Victims fan Ray Ahn is playing bass. He was also selling the merch before the show.

For more information about THE VICTIMS:
Well, I am so sorry but there is fuck all on the internet about The Victims. No official website, no social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or even MySpace (for you old farts), etc.
